“What’s Poppin – Biden‘s Inauguration”

This week we’re talking about what’s happening on the Hill and Biden’s plans for his and Harris’s first days in office. Don’t forget to checkout last week’s article here!

Since the insurrection taking place on January 7th, there have been multiple resignations of Trump’s Administration including Elaine Chao, Betsy DeVos, Tyler Godspeed, Anna Christina Niceta, a more.

Although they did wait until basically the last minute to resign it’s still says a lot about how Trump ran his administration. Many people were upset with his lackluster response to the Capitol insurrection. Trump has also been banned on multiple social media sites including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube+ totaling a loss of an audience of 150 million. He’s been silenced on social media but he still has a couple more days until he leaves office so let’s hope doesn’t do anything too crazy until then.

Since were talking about Biden’s inauguration… he has a few plans expecting to make big changes day 1 when he gets in office. These plans include

  1. Giving $1,400 checks for everyone who qualifies including dependent college students.
  2. Signing a bill to legalize 11 million undocumented immigrants
  3. Increasing the minimum wage to $15

With the Senate at 50 Democrats and 50 Republicans, Vice-President elect Kamala Harris, would be the tie breaker for the majority leader and any legislation waiting to be passed. This is HUGE for Biden’s administration as it gives him a lot of room to pas any legislation his administration and the Democrats essentially want throughout the next 2 years!

With the inauguration coming up, the Hill has added a bunch of security and have taken extreme safety precautions to prevent any violence or mass meeting of people during this time. We hope you stay safe and stay tuned to hear more about Biden’s plans.

Thanks for catching up on what’s poppin’ this week and stay tuned for more!
